Darfur
By now most of us know the horrible story of the genocide in Rwanda. A similar situation exists right now in the Darfur region of the Sudan. Almost four hundred thousand people have been massacred; two and a half million have been displaced; countless women and girl systematically attacked, children maimed and left orphaned. The United States Government has done absolutely nothing to bring the horror and bloodshed to a halt. Please join me in helping the victims of genocide in Darfur. Here are seven things you can do to help:

1 – Keep the people affected, the government of Sudan the people aiding and encouraging the massacre and those helping to end it in your prayers.
2 – Spread the word to everyone you know what is going on there, so that there is no one left who can say when millions of have fallen, ‘I didn’t know.”
3 – Visit websites like http://www.darfurinfo.org/oldnews.html, http://www.savedarfur.org/, http://www.unicefusa.org/site/pp.asp?c=duLRI8O0H&b=50755 and http://www.darfurgenocide.org/ to find out detailed information about what’s going on there.
4 – Write your local newspapers, magazines, and radio and television stations and let them know that you want them to cover the progress of the situation there and what the United States government and world wide efforts are doing to stop the genocide.
5 – Participate in activities that promote awareness of the situation and positive action from our government and theirs. Go to the web sites above for suggestions.
6 – Write President George Bush and ask him to do something to stop this. He said that what happened in Rwanda would not have happened ‘on his watch’. Remind him that it is his watch now and that what happened there is happening now in the Sudan. Tell him not to wait until it is financially profitable for him to help, but to help now while it is spiritually profitable. Tell him that unlike Irag, an intervention in Darfur would be more than justified; it would be the only just thing to do. Send your letters to: The White House, 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue NW, Washington, DC 20500, or your email to: comments@whitehouse.gov: and http://www.redcross.org. Send similar messages to Vice President Richard Cheney at the White House or emails to vice_president@whitehouse.gov.
7 - Donate to organizations like U.S. Fund for UNICEF, 333 East 38th Street, New York, NY 10016 (by mail) or (online) Click Here ; Res Publica, Darfur Advocacy Project, 25 Washington Street, 4th Floor
